The Cat made me write his memoir.

Introduction and Disclaimer:

It all started when I took a walk and he attached himself to me and to my life. Over several years he has latched himself to others and together we form a loose support network for him, although he could care less.

I heartily reject any notion of being a Cat Lady; yet it is through encounters with The Cat that I find myself in the best position to tell his story. His is a life filled with adventure, nonchalance, and love; in short, a story that must be told. There are tales of his adventures, of the people in his life, and of other cats who are among his acquaintances. His story tells of his extraordinary life and spirit. The previous post about his (not really) being Homeless describes his lifestyle and his Friends (of the Cat), and the early post, Mistaken Identity, tells how we are always on alert and concerned for his well-being. Here is another case of Mistaken Identity.

The Second Case of Mistaken Identity

Whenever The Cat makes an appearance it is a time for happy celebration.

At our end of the street The Cat is known as Mr. Cutie. It is the combination of a brand name of small mandarin oranges which appear in the winter and which are much enjoyed, just as he is - and his title, ‘Mr.’ - was suggested by a neighbor who admired his prowess with neighborhood wildlife.

One day, after having gone for weeks with no sign of him, he appeared in the driveway just outside the garage.  It was with unabashed joy in seeing him I loudly called out to greet him, "Oh hello there, Mr. Cutie!"  As I walked out of the garage to get closer to him, a man who was walking just beyond my line of sight came into view with a very happy smile on his face.
